Dear Friends!
Wow, what a beautiful weekend. I thought for sure summer was back but then we realize those warm days are just an extra special blessing! The leaves are starting to show the beauty of the season and with that comes cooler weather. We just pray you enjoy everyday!
Last Friday we started off the weekend at the beautiful Meramec Music Theatre in Steelville, MO. This was our first time to be at the theatre and a special blessing to meet Rosie Roberts and the staff at the theatre. Please check out their web site at www.misn.com/MMT for the remaining 2008 schedule. These folks do a great job so please go by and visit them soon. It was great to see Rev & Mrs. LeRoy Fahnestock at the concert. We have enoyed their fellowship for many years and we were so glad to find out they have retired in St. James, MO. It was also great to see David & Kathy Parrett. Thanks for taking time to go eat with us and share some laughs.
We hit the road around 11:30 pm and headed to Flying J to buy some of that cheaper Missouri diesel. You notice I didn't say "cheap". $3.53 is much better than $4.89, but I can't say it is cheap. Alright, it is a great blessing so we are thankful. Just keep praying it will continue to go down. Saturday evening we were blessed to once again sing for the Fall Festival at Friendship Baptist Church in Charleston, IL. Pastor Skinner and his church always greet us with arms of love. We appreciate them and want to say "thank you" for once again including our family in your fall celebration.
Sunday morning we were in Decatur, IL at Crestview Christian Church. Thank you Pastor Stacey for meeting us early and making us feel so welcome. We had a great service and the morning ended with a bountiful carry-in dinner. You can't go wrong with fried chicken and all the fixins! This was our 2nd time to be at Crestview and we look forward to going back!
The whole weekend was great, but you could say that Sunday evening was "icing on the cake". It was standing room only at Grace Baptist Church in Moweaqua and all the folks came ready to worship the Lord! While we had several friends in attendance, the majority of the audience had never heard our family before. It's always good to meet new friends! An extra treat was to have our friends, The Dowd family, open up the evening with a couple songs. They did a wonderful job and we appreciate all their hard work for putting the evening together! After the concert, we all headed back to the Dowd's house for a tremendous home cooked meal!
Every day we are reminded of how many blessings the Lord bestows upon us. We want you to know that your friendship, love and support is a blessing to our family beyond description. It always seems the Lord sends a word of encouragment through someone when we need it the most. We love you all and ask that the Lord will continue to use our family to be a blessing to others.
On the Journey!
